Endometriosis and Adenomyosis Naturopath

Did you know that recent research has shown the microbiome is the underlying contributor to endometriosis and adenomyosis? I can help reduce your symptoms through naturopathic treatments that support the immune system, reduce inflammation, improve gut health, and promote healthy hormone metabolism.

Reduced pain and discomfort

Naturopathy can reduce post-intimacy pain, ovulation pain, period, bowel and bladder pain, and bloating and gut symptoms.

Better periods

It is possible to have regular periods with management of endometriosis and adenomyosis through naturopathic dietary and lifestyle modifications.

Reduce risk of infertility

I'll help you reduce risks of difficulty conceiving later in life, and the associated illnesses of untreated endometriosis / adenomyosis.

Your journey starts at home

Before we meet for the first time, I'll ask you to complete some preliminary health questionnaires and health assessment forms and gather results of any recent medical test results and investigations. I'll also ask you to record your menstrual cycle and period symptoms for at least one full cycle. This allows me to approach the initial consultation with an intimate awareness of your particular circumstances.

The initial consultation

In our first consultation I will thoroughly explore your whole health, hormone / reproductive health, gut health, nervous system, immune system, lifestyle, diet, medical history and genetics to identify the cause of your symptoms and areas of imbalance.

We’ll talk about how your possible hormone imbalance is impacting you with sufficient time to formulate a detailed plan for the best way to proceed. We work together to develop a plan that works for you and you'll go home with some nutritional and lifestyle recommendations to get started on right away.

Testing and treatment plan

Depending on your circumstances, testing may be necessary including hormone testing, iron studies, gut testing, vitamin D or omega 3 index testing.

Now that you have a treatment plan, you can start implementing my recommendations. I generally allow 3 weeks for this stage, to allow adequate time to see some changes and identify any obstacles. During this time you might need to track your symptoms and menstrual cycle and record a food/lifestyle diary.

Follow-up consultation

Three weeks later we will meet for your first follow-up consultation. By now you will have implemented some of the diet and lifestyle changes and started on naturopathic supplements. We will have the results from any hormone testing and can discuss your progress and ongoing goals.

We may need to adjust the prescription of supplements, set new goals for your treatment, and schedule future appointments. I will give you an idea of how long it will take to see results.

Ongoing support

As a minimum, I recommend at least four to six follow up appointments over six months. Six months is a realistic timeframe for working on endometriosis and adenomyosis, but this varies from person to person as everybody responds to treatment differently.

We are just beginning to understand the underlying causes and most effective treatments of endometriosis and adenomyosis.

Recent research has revealed that that the microbiome is possibly the underlying cause or at least a significant contributor of endometriosis and adenomyosis. The research on endometriosis is moving at a rapid rate and while there is currently no cure, we are starting to better understand the underlying drivers and ways to reduce the symptoms and long-term effects of unmanaged endometriosis.

It might sound like a gloomy outlook, but on the bright side as we further our understanding of these conditions, we are able to constantly improve the range of available treatments and the prognosis for patients looks better with each passing year.

The impacts of endometriosis and adenomyosis

It is vitally important to get help for endometriosis and adenomyosis sooner than later as they can affect fertility and cause chronic health conditions.

Women with endometriosis often find it difficult to maintain a healthy menstrual cycle. They may have to take time off of work, experience physical pain and other consequences on a day-to-day basis. It's also been cited as one of the leading causes of female infertility.

The naturopathic approach to treatment

As naturopaths, we take a holistic approach to supporting the treatment of endometriosis and adenomyosis. We aim to to reduce symptoms by supporting the immune system, reducing inflammation, improving gut health, and promoting healthy hormone metabolism.

Endometriosis and adenomyosis can have such variety in how they present in women, and naturopathy is well-placed to support due to a personalised approach and the ability to reduce inflammation, and support the immune system and gut health.

Endometriosis can affect different women in different ways, but tackling pain, inflammation and hormone function will help most sufferers to improve their quality of life. Naturopathic remedies are effective at treating endometriosis through diet and lifestyle modifications, herbal medicine and supplements.
